I don’t often share semi-naked images of myself, but I was so surprised and pleased with the results of my 12-week body transformation that I decided to make an exception here. The challenge was initiated by my performance coach Jean-Pierre de Villiers and commenced on the 1st May 2020.
In the first photo (I am holding a newspaper dated 1st May 2020) you can see my body ‘BEFORE’ and in the second photo you can see my body ‘AFTER’ – the photos are taken precisely 12-weeks apart and it followed a strict diet, restricting carbohydrates and sticking to salads and protein during my 6-hour eating window as part of an 18:6 intermittent fasting experiment.
I also did A LOT of exercise during this period – I would run up to 90 minutes (10 miles) on running days and on alternative days I was using an iPhone app called Freeletics which sets very tough daily training plans focussed on using your own body weight for resistance – also know as callisthenics. I think the results speak for themselves.
In the days prior to taking the AFTER photo I did a longer than usual fast of 36-hours – on that Tuesday evening I finished eating at 7pm and did not eat my next meal until 7am a full day and night later. I also restricted water intake for 18-hours before the photo and in that fasted/thirsty state I went for a 5km run and did a 40-minute Freeletics session before taking off the shirt and posing – I think the results speak for themselves.
